The Blue Line — now part of the A Line — between downtown LA and downtown Long Beach opened this date in 1990. The last of the streetcars stopped running in the early 1960s. Between that time and 1990, there was NO rail transit in the LA region. The opening of the Blue Line changed that. The initial leg of the Red Line (1993) came next, followed by the Green Line (1995), and so on.
